If the accuser of the brethren Has a favourite weapon, it is this: “Bad mummy.” Yeah, he’s always coming up against me “You should have nursed longer, Eaten better when you were pregnant, Given them less sugar when they were little, Read more to them, and for longer, Kept their rooms tidier, Been involved with homework, Taught good study habits. Done more, more, more.” But I will listen to another voice, Softer, kinder, gentler, Almost drowned out By this raucous accusation. A voice which says, “Do not let your heart be anxious, Neither let it be afraid. Trust in the Father Trust also in me.” “Cast your cares and your children upon me for I care for you.” I am the redeemer. Place it all in my hands. Watch me create diamonds from dust, Beauty from ashes, A garment of praise From your spirit of heaviness, The oil of joy from your sadness.”
A wonderful reminder. Thanks for sharing!
Elizabeth thanks, and welcome to my blog!
Anita, I love this. What mum doesn’t deal with little doubts that pour all sorts of nastiness in our ears…thanks so much for sharing.
Peace and good love, and blessings upon all your God-sized dreams.
Thank you, Chelle, and welcome to my blog!
A beautiful affirmation to start the day. Kicking the enemy into touch as we remember how God “moulds diamonds from the clay” and gives us “beauty for ashes”. It is sadly all too easy to beat ourselves up as parents.
We can only try to be ‘good enough parents’ who act from the best of intentions from our flawed humanity. Then surrender our children into His loving embrace. Thank you, Anita, for these wonderfully encouraging words. May you be blessed as you bless us here. 🙂
Joy, YOU are a blessing and encouragement. Thank you!
Dear Anita, I really liked: “Cast your cares and your children upon me for I care for you.’
I am the redeemer. Place it all in my hands. Watch me mould diamonds from clay…”
It gave me a mental picture of putting our children in God’s very capable hands, and watching God turn their lives, rough around the edges, into diamonds over the years. Thank you for such a glorious mental picture. Debbie Seiling http://bible-passages.blogspot.com and http://christian-overeaters.blogspot.com
Thanks, Debbie, and thank you too for your very helpful and kind emails, Love, Anita
