A friend told me yesterday about their family’s chocolate box. Twice a week, they gave their young children chocolate after dinner. To teach them about grace.
They said, “Have some chocolate. Whether you’ve been good, or whether you’ve been bad. Whether you are glad, or whether you are sad, God loves you anyway. And so do we.”
Not surprisingly, my daughters are very eager for this sweet instruction in grace.
Thanks Claudia, and Jennifer. Sadly, my first attempt at introducing it was not a success. I ate all the leftover chocolates in the box.
Yet another reason I need grace!!

Wonderful! Will also introduce…except for my one son who doesn't like chocolate, I'll find a substitute. He loves Smarties (the little candy) and also glazed donuts. 😉
Mmm. Chocolate as a spiritual lesson. Good idea. Reminds me of a Chocolate Mindfulness Meditation I read about last year: http://canterburyquake.keswingroup.com/christchurch-quake-destress
Hi Joanna, We are going to introduce it too. And not just for our kids! God loves us too whether we are naughty or nice, good or bad, glad or sad:-)
Love this! Wish I had thought of it when ours were younger. Although on reflection, it's probably never too late to introduce chocolate-related rituals. 🙂
