We watched this movie–part of Irene’s Christmas present–tonight. Faster moving than the book, and satisfying to those who have read the book. It’s like watching how someone else’s imagination has conceived and incarnated the book.
Having enjoyed the books, I loved seeing Dustfinger, Farid, and the scene in which Meggie calls forth the shadow. Was delighted to see Fenoglio. I loved the scenes set in the Italian countryside.

I loved too the central conceit: the power of the imagination and words to make things seem real. A wonderful celebration of the power of the written word and of the imagination.
