“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend” James 2.23.
Cool!
Isn’t that the lowest bar there ever was?
All one needs to do to be the friend
of Him who dwells in high places
is believe what He says–
really believe so that trusting him
frees us from all fear.
And it is one of life’s cooler experiences
when your thoughts naturally turn towards Him,
through the day, and in wakeful nights,
until you realize that, incredibly, mysteriously,
God is your friend.

@Robin, thanks much.
@Nancy, agree. However, for us, it seems that we just need to believe what God says (even when it's hard) to have this amazing friend in high places.
Not sure if Abraham believing God was the lowest bar ever. Because Abraham believed God he left his home and people in a wonderfully civilised city and set out with his family and flocks not knowing where he was going but trusting God to show him. I think such belief if rather a high bar – not sure I'd have done that.
Awesome words and post!!
