This is a question!!
I am wondering if I am in the right church for me and our family. Sigh, probably not, or no longer.
What is the most important thing to look for in a church?
I would be grateful for your answers and perspective.

The comments were all interesting and some were helpful. I would look for a church where you know God is the focus and we are all helped to worship him. I think this is what definitely takes place in countries where there is persecution.
Thanks Gisela, and how exciting to have you visit my blog!
Thanks so much, Red!
I agree with the above that the congregation is a great place to start. I would always look for a lovely mix of people, from all ages – always a good sign. Plus that the church offers thigns aside from the Sunday services, and that those things are well attended. Plus are the people the kind of people you can get along with? I think its important to be able to form lasting friendships with people from church and not just 'see you on sunday' type friends…
Obviously what they 'do' in church is important too 😉 but I think you are probably likely to judge that better yourself – you know what you 'like' as it were…
hope that helps

Thank you everyone, for your comments here and through email and FB. I will no doubt be blogging (kindly!) about our quest, and where the star comes to rest, so to say.
1)Where you are touched spiritually at some point – maybe not all the time because then it would be a security blanket – you need to be able to grow.
2)A genuine welcome – that is sustained. People are interested in including you.
3)Opportunity to be included in mission – you and your children found roles (if wanted) so you get to meet others quickly.
4)I like an evening service as well – sometimes it is good just to 'be' and not always active.
1) A place where God comes first above all
2) The friends you make there
3) A place which inspires your hunger for more knowledge about God
I need to look for a new church with my house move… looking forward to it actually!
xx
1. I'm sorry.
2. Perspective – Your family is the most important consideration.
3. Does being in it bring you (all) closer to God?
The congregation!
