What encouragement! The prayer by Thomas Merton reminds me of an event during our courting days which my wife and I still refer to. We went hill walking in the Scottish Highlands above Glen Clova. As we climbed higher, following the top of the steep cliffs surrounding Loch Brandy, a thick mist came down and we could see nothing. We had to resort to map and compass. Thus we got safely round and down into the sunshine again. Whenever we can’t see the way ahead, we refer to it as a ‘Glen Clover’ situation, needing more than ever to rely on God’s Word and His Holy Spirit like map and compass, as He trains us how to read the one and follow the other more sensitively and more accurately.
