In reply to <a href="https://anitamathias.com/2014/12/01/making-difference-prayer-writing-praise-julian-norwich/#comment-62740">Anita Mathias</a>.

Jesus preached to 5000, but more often preached and taught in small groups, touching each life as he went. To me, this says it's not about the numbers, but about the personal touch...helping people one life at a time. I often wonder what he'd think of mega-churches with their impersonal drive for sheer numbers rather than a focus on the individual life. I think he would say that we've missed the point. Jesus did his best work touching individuals in the press of the crowd. Zacheus, the woman who touched his robe, the cripple that was lowered down on him from above. The Bible contains many stories of individual interactions.

One of your greatest strengths as a writer is that you write from your heart about yourself or others in a way that is personal, timely and touching. Be comforted in knowing that for each thing you write, there is at least one person reading it for whom the message is intended and changes their life. They may not comment, you may never even know who they are and they may or may not show up on your stats. But their life was changed for the better. Just think if each and everyone of us on this planet helped just one other person in our lives, how incredibly filled with God's love it would be. mother Teresa's greatest gift was to make people feel like they mattered, individually, one person at a time. Keep writing what you are called to write and pray for that person or persons who will be touched by your words. You have already touched my life and I'm sure many others along the way. And you will touch many more.

Indeed, you have a gift of writing for others sake and it is a mighty gift indeed. When you blog about God and other aspects of a holy life, others read it and are cheered on. One time, I was asked to speak on my faith journey as a witness talk to a group. I didn't know what to say. I'd heard others who had magnificent conversion stories or times of trial or times of losing faith and regaining it and I had nothing so exciting. My spiritual life was exceedingly boring. As a friend and I talked about this, she said "there is one person whom God has placed in that room to hear whatever it is you are saying, and for that one person, it will change their life. Isn't that worth it? ". That has stuck with me all these years and has heartened me when I feel I have nothing to contribute. If your wonderful blog changes even one life, wasn't that worth it all?

Aw!
They are beautiful words. Many people think they are from the Bible, but no, Julian of Norwich wrote them!

Dear Anita,
The quote I placed next to my kitchen sink where I can view it daily is by Julian of Norwich. It says, "Oh God, of Thy goodness, give me Thyself, for only in Thee have I all."
I thought you might sppreciate it.
