Lugubrious. It sort of sounds like its meaning, doesn't it.
Thanks you visiting, Steve!

Anita, your post makes me "love mercy" (as Micah 6:8 tells us to do). You remind me that being merciful is often costly and painful. . . but always "worth it" because it's one of the purest expressions of Christlikeness. Mercy is costly but beautiful; this world (and my life and my city) could use a LOT more beauty.

Oh, and thanks for the new word, lugubriously. I won't lie: I had to look it up!

This depiction of "Les Miserables" made the whole film more succinct to me as I watched the play on PBS and found it to be depressing at the end. You have made a great point of how we have both natures of the main characters within us. I too choose to "feed the white dog" and find that Christ be expressed in and through me. It is a great spiritual truth that living for God and loving others is the way that we can escape the restrictive and vengeful nature that Satan exploits. Thank you for exploring the theme of this film and capturing the essence of its meaning.
