Scary. One of my friends is an extreme giver, and is always taking meals around, driving people, taking people in, volunteering to run errands, and no one ever helps her because she is seen as competent. She is getting a bit worn out and grumpy now.
I would naturally be an extreme giver, but I have been training myself to be careful with my time so as to be able to write, and am getting better at it.
I think it’s good to be a giver, because Jesus said so!

And yes, I’ve accumulated a lifetime’s worth of favor-owing people, but I find that most people will only repay on their schedule. We never get invited to dinner, yet are always hosting. We never get invited to go to events, but are always organizing big groups to go and folks RSVP like crazy. Sometimes we wonder if we smell bad or something, but all our stuff is well-attended and folks genuinely seem to have fun, so I don’t let it deter me from continuing to host, cook, etc. and figure that people will invite us over on their schedule.
