Thank you, dear Elizabeth. I know that you know this dance, friend. Some of our songs might even be the same.

I pray that I will always hear the tune...

Oh Holly how beautiful your mother's heart appears....and is... both holding on and releasing. This write is so perfectly tender as you wind and weave us around the crooked places on a winding path. You walk us through the rivulets those salty tears make. And we are better having been dampened by your wet love, this trail you forge with a pulsing beating love that knows no end. You and your precious son. What a glorious dance you do, stepping in and out. Honoring one another as you release in love.

Amy,
Thank you so much for your words here.
And those rocks? Let's loose them for each other and build our altars together, what do you say?

Nancy,
Thank you so much for sharing. We are all lost if we can't find others who understand our journeys so I appreciate you reaching out to others who might understand what this letting go was like for me. Thank you!
And my son? Yes, he is pretty much a rock star.

There is definitely nothing convenient, nor easy, about letting go, that is for sure. But there IS much to be gained from that step of faith. I am so thankful for others to walk alongside me as I take one step forward and then two steps backward, again and again and again.

Thank you for your kind words, LA. It is always nice to "meet" other homeschoolers and to hear their perspectives. I am grateful for your gracious comments. It was an honor to be invited here by Anita.

A knowing... yes, it is a slow walk to that understanding but it comes with faith and trust. I pray that I can continue to loosen the strings so that the ones I love most can learn to fly.

Can't tell you how many people I've shared this with already. I keep finding more and more mothers who are doing this dance, or some variation of it, and it's just so hard. No one taught us the steps, and we're all stepping on a lot of toes.

This was beautiful. Just beautiful. And good for your son. I'm in awe of his bravery as I pictured him in that tent during the storm.
