My son, who is 10, but very wise says that he cannot be Christian because he cannot reconcile the God of the OT who engages in "evil" behavior with the God of the NT who preaches love of all and forgives all sinners, etc. Once he and I started talking, I realized that I, too, have a very hard time with the vengeful God raining down punishment on a naughty Israel. It seems to be assigning to God a personality that is not clothed in love. Discipline can be born out of love, but punishment never is.

However, you have managed a take on this generally overlooked book that can speak to me. This concept of being able to dish-out to God our frustrations, confusions and sufferings in order to allow room in our hearts for he peace and stillness is a wonderful concept.

I'm planning to do a guided meditation this Sunday for our Sunday intergenerational class based on the gospel reading appointed for this Sunday. I think I'm going to use this imagery and excerpts to get my listeners to that place of healing. Thank you!!
