That seeking glory–affirmation and praise–from men seriously weakens one's ability to believe. “How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to seek the glory that comes from the only God?” I suppose it's because we turn our focus from God to man, and get into the habit of looking horizontally, not vertically.
