The West Coast of the South is one of the most magical places I've been too. I remember the glowworm caves, the rainforest, the honeycombed rocks, Lake Matheson ? and the glaciers.
Sadly, I am bitten by travel lust, though I love being rooted in a place. I love living where we now are--and it's our sixth year in our home, which is long for us.

Thank you for sharing this Anita. I am fortunate that my "spiritual home" (West Coast of South Island in NZ) is within driving distance of where I live.
I'm not very widely travelled - I've only been overseas once as an adult, and that was 13 years ago. I don't feel the need to travel that seems common for many of my country. This post has reassured me that it's okay to put down roots and be a home-body where I am.

Hi Nancy,
Blogging is alas absorbing much of my energy and creativity.
However, as the girls grow older, I find more of both returning and hope to ease back into more literary writing.
But sadly, blogging is virtually all the writing I am doing at the moment!

This is fascinating and so well written. I will return to it later to help me understand how it feels to be rootless. I love the section about defining your identity in Christ. Are you going to write an essay in reply? Or have you already done so>
